Avena is an association with the aim of: facilitating and stimulating human-nature interactions. We focus on three areas with 'sustainable development' as the basis and education as the common thread: nature conservation, sustainable agriculture and culture. The target group splits - but not exclusively - on young people.

We want to work within the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion between the cities of Maastricht, Aachen, Liège and Tongeren, which includes the nature reserves of the Sint Pietersberg, the Jeker Valley and the Voerstreek. 

In 2018, we realised our first international project UA2EU. In addition, we mainly supported local projects together with partners Natuurpunt and the Jeugdbond voor Natuur en Milieu (JNM).
