Will you bring light to Ukraine?
Donate and offer concrete help in these hard times!

It is Christmas and we celebrate that "the true Light, which enlightens every man, came into the world" (John 1:9). Here in our safe Netherlands, we celebrate Christmas lavishly for the first time since Covid. Restaurants and churches were full on Christmas Eve. A 2,000 km away, there is still war. In Ukraine, people suffer cold and live in fear every day. Would the Light, the symbol of Christmas, also reach Ukraine?

Yaroslav lives with his family in Lviv. He is one of the many people in concrete need of help. For 20 hours a day, there is no electricity.  Yaroslav supports his family, including his parents. His mother lost her job at the beginning of the war. His father is retired but also seriously ill. Yaroslav himself worked for a while for very low wages, but has also lost his job in the meantime. He has no money to pay his bills.

For Yaroslav but also for all our other friends in Ukraine, we ask you, inspired by the Christmas spirit, to make a (small) donation via Avena Vzw: BE55 5230 8099 1944 o.v.v. Donation UA If you want to donate specifically for Yaroslav and his family, please add 'Yaro' to your donation. We will make sure the money reaches the people directly!

RESIDENCE WANTED

My friends, Yulia and Sergey and their children Eliyah, Egor and Vladislav live about 60 km from Kyiv in the village of Lyshnya. Many times they have welcomed me hospitably. Now, because of the war, they have been forced to leave home and hearth for their own safety. I would like to receive them near Maastricht. Unfortunately, it is not possible for an extra five people to live in my flat. Who has, preferably near Limburg, a (holiday) home or place in their own home to accommodate this lovely family with three children? I would love to hear from you, please call or send a message on +31 6 51105932.

For security reasons, we would like to ask you NOT to share this message on Facebook. Thank you in advance.

UKRAINIAN REFUGEES VISITING FUN VALLEY

On July 7, 2022, some 150 refugees from Ukraine from hotel Kaboom are based at Overmaze. Overmaze has a capacity of 400, and receives new admirers every week.

Volunteers decided to organise an outing for Overmaze residents with their children. In total, this was organised twice, in June and July, where the whole day was filled with activities, BBQ, drinks, swimming, games, and also the presence of a football coach.

Liza Leslie, Richard Knubben, Isa Bremer and Nassim Jongen are the volunteers who helped prepare this project. Many thanks go to Monique Goessen of Avena VZW, thanks to whose financial support this project was made possible. Similar thanks go to the participants of the Koepelkerk May benefit concert.
